Professional golfer Kurt Kitayama is in serious contention after the 1st round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Only behind by round leaders Victor Perez and S. Chikkarangappa by 1 stroke, Kitayama fired a 7-under 65 which saw him share the second spot with Masahiro Kawamura of Japan. It was a bogey-free round for Kitayama who is a product of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
