There’s not a more common fault in the golf swing than a steep plane on the downswing. It’s very rare that someone knows exactly why they’re getting steep as you can count me among the masses who can get too steep in the downswing. The main issue is that once you get to the top of your swing, your shoulders are overturned and the shaft gets across the line. The quick fix is to bump your hips toward the target to initiate the downswing instead of firing the right side so quickly as it will create space for the shaft and allow you to shallow in the downswing.
